I hope nissa gets a bigger part in this book with a confrontation with kaleo or something.
I'm also a little more than put off by the twins' relationship with nissa. She is supposed to be teh oldest and acts as if she's helpless (even if she is) and nik and kris don't seem to have the best relationship with her as they do with each other. Sure they talk about taking care of each other but what have they really done for her after she's taken care of them when they were children? Do they blame her for being changed? Well, if that's the case then I can understand why they left her. _________________ it's beyond me how a 'fat chance' and a 'slim chance' are the same thing, but a 'wise man' and 'wise guy' are considered opposites. Nissa came off to me the same way. Helpless. But I honestly don't think the twins blame her for being changed. Yeah but I do hope there will be a Kaleo and Nissa confrontation.

i just re-read ajg and i guess the twins came across to me a little differently. they do seem to care for nissa but i guess, not as much as for each other. _________________ it's beyond me how a 'fat chance' and a 'slim chance' are the same thing, but a 'wise man' and 'wise guy' are considered opposites. I havn't read SM in a long time, but I always thought that Nissa was the one who walked out. Someone- probably Christopher- said that he didn't hear from Nissa for a long time after he was changed. I think she's not as close to her brothers as Nikolas and Kristopher are to eachother because she dosen't like that they kill. They're her family, and she loves them...but they only time she ever killed she was discusted with herself. _________________ "'Why are you so far away?' she said

SM is one of my favorites and I know for a fact that Nissa said those words not Christopher...or I'm pretty sure.

Clarifying History... *seemed to deserve a title* Wow... longer than I'd intended.
Timeline:
- Nissa is a few years older than the twins.
- Their mother died when they were all fairly young.
- Nissa had an affair with Kaleo. Nicholas and Kaleo were very close, but Christopher hated Kaleo. It was the first thing (in Nissa's memory) the twins ever disagreed on.
- Kaleo killed their father, and- after Nicholas discovered the body- threatened to kill Nikolas, unless Nissa agreed to let him change her. Nikolas was unaware of the threat to his own life.
- Kaleo changed Nissa. While they were gone, Nicholas (12 years old at this point) cleaned up the body so his brother wouldn't have to see it.
- A few years passed, Nissa doing her best to take care of her brothers, but Kaleo providing most of the family's income despite Nissa's strong preferences to the contray. The twins both started working for the Brunswick family.
- The twins both fell for Christine Brunswick. Nicholas stepped aside, though not before confiding the delemia to Kaleo.
- At the Brunswick's Mayday party, Nicholas kills Christine. He is promptly arrested, and as he just murdered someone in front of a great many witnesses, it is commonly assumed that he will hang.
- Nissa changes Nicholas.
- At about noon, the police come to the house in search of Nicholas; he flees before anyone can stop him- in about as good shape as you can imagine a new fledgling who's had a stressful change and who wakes too early in the middle of the day would be- and ends up taken in by Kendra, who takes him hunting, when he kills for the first time.
- Nissa meets Kendra for the first time (they really don't get along; recall that Kendra is in love with Kaleo) and nearly gets herself killed in the process of securing her brother's safe return. Nicholas is unaware of any of this, as he's unconscious.
- Nicholas returns home.
- Now believing that her brother is safe, Nissa leaves to hunt. While she is out, Nicholas changes Christopher, and they leave into the wide world, very much the way young men will when they go off to make their fortune.
- One year later, Christopher is attacked by Elisabeth Vida while hunting. She nearly kills him, but doesn't expect Nicholas, who comes to his brother's defense. The boys gain fairly instant infamy pretty much overnight, championed by none other than Theron (Kaleo's good friend), who makes sure the brothers aren't abused by older and meaner vampires; Theron also informs Kaleo and Nissa of the twins' whereabouts.
- Nikolas and Kristopher reinvent themselves. I think it's safe to say the witch-blood and the fame combined to go to their heads. Eventually they get in touch with Nissa, but their chosen lifestyle is very different than the one she wishes for herself. It is a fairly mutual decision that the twins and their sister do not run together. Mainly, Nik and Kris let it be known that anyone who harms her will answer to them-- a posture that keeps her safe, and *allows* her to live the peaceful life she prefers.
- And... there's the story.
And that's the moral of it. The twins' influence in Nyeusigrube is enough that they can afford to defend their sister. Very few vampires can afford to be as weak and humane as Nissa, but she can, because she has powerful allies.

THANK YOU! Where do you get all of this back-story from? I'm always amazed at how much you know, but haven't published. _________________ "'Why are you so far away?' she said

Nissa's book, which is occasionally called Fallen Angel, is finished in first draft form but is frankly not very good. I mostly wrote it to get my head around the background to these characters.
So, that's where the back-story comes from... being willing to write 200 pages of a story I don't intend to do anything more with, just for the sake of knowing the story.

besides everything in the back story, I should think that twins would be a lot closer to each other than anyone else. (though I know someone who has a twin I've never met, and apparently they aren't very friendly to each other either...)
But in this case, Kristopher and Nikolas are twins, and their lifestyle is different from Nissa's. I think that would account for their separate lives. |

| I don't think there's anything wrong with Nissa and the twins living separate lives. But I think Nissa needs to be more independent. It would be interesting to see if Nissa can become more independent, but still keep her humane ideals. Also, it would be very interesting to see a Kaleo-Nissa confrontation. |

Nissa's...book...OMG! I so want chapters, good or not! I don't know why, but I love Nissa. Maybe because she reminds me of my best friend (i'm a lot more like Risika, hmm, wonder if they would get along like we do, lol) anyway I love her, and any back story or other info on her would make me so happy. Ah well, probably wont happen, but it's nice to dream.

I believe she is independent, to as much a degree as she can be. I mean she was forced into the life and did what she could in it, it's not her fault that her brothers became what they became.
It's also understandable for the brothers to be less close to her in that the live those different lifestyles and yet make sure to look out for one another. It's that thing where you don't hang or really look for your sibling but if anyone messed with them you'd come running. _________________ "All my will. All my strength. Rip it out. Start again."
